Commander Orlosky is a native of Gloversville, New York and a 1991 graduate of Gloversville High School. He graduated from the United States Naval Academy with a B.S. in History in 1995.
Upon designation as a Naval Aviator in 1997, he completed the CH-46D Fleet Replacement en route to the HELSUPPRON ELEVEN (HC-11) Gunbearers. There he completed deployments on board USS ESSEX (LHD 2) and USS BONHOMME RICHARD (LHD 6) in support 7th and 5th Fleet operations and Operation SOUTHERN WATCH.
His next tour was at the Helicopter Anti-Submarine Wing, U.S. Pacific Fleet (COMHSWINGPAC) where he served as Safety Officer and as a FRS instructor with Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron TEN (HS-10). In 2003 he completed the transition to the MH-60S Knight Hawk returned to the Gunbearers of HC-11 was part of the squadron’s transition to the MH-60S and its redesignation to Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron TWO ONE (HSC-21) Blackjacks in 2005. While with HC-11/HSC-21 he completed a deployment on board the USS BELLEAU WOOD (LHA 3) in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM.
In 2006, he was assigned as a department head with the Island Knights of Helicopter Sea Combat
Squadron TWO FIVE (HSC-25) in Guam. There he deployed as the Officer-in-Charge (OIC) Search and
Rescue detachment on board USS ESSEX (LHD 2) in support of 7th Fleet operations. He also deployed as
part of the 2515th Naval Air Ambulance Detachment (NAAD) in Kuwait and Iraq performing the medical
evacuation (MEDEVAC) mission for the U.S. Army’s THIRD Army Aviation Task Force in support of
Operation IRAQI FREEDOM.
After leaving HSC-25 he earned an M.A. in National Security and Strategic Studies at the U.S. Naval War
College in 2009
He reported to the program office for Navy-Marine Corps Small Tactical Unmanned Aircraft Systems and
served as the Maritime Lead for the Close Range Integrated Product Team. There he was responsible
for the acquisition and deployment of Unmanned Aircraft System services for all the Armed Services
supporting world-wide operations.
In 2013 CDR Orlosky reported as the Combat Direction Center Officer on board USS GEORGE
WASHINGTON (CVN 73) completing multiple deployments in support of 7th Fleet operations.
Commander Orlosky has accumulated over 3,000 flight hours in various aircraft. His personal awards
include the Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Air Medal (1 Strike/Flight), Navy Commendation
Medal (four awards), Army Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal and various unit
commendations and campaign awards.
