Captain Patrick Huete is a native of New Orleans, Louisiana, and an alumnus of Jesuit High School.  He graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1988 after earning a Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree and was commissioned through the Georgia Tech NROTC program.

During his initial Division Officer tour from October 1989 to December 1992, Captain Huete served as Auxiliaries Officer, Main Propulsion Assistant, and Combat Information Center Officer in USS Samuel Eliot Morison (FFG 13).  Following this tour, Captain Huete joined the crew of USS Vella Gulf (CG 72) and served as Fire Control Officer through December 1994.

From December 1994 to May 1996 Captain Huete served in the Secretary of the Navy’s Office of Legislative Affairs.  As a Liaison Officer to the U.S. House of Representatives for the 104^th Congress, he assisted members of Congress and their staffs in their legislative relationships with the Department of the Navy.

Captain Huete’s next tour of duty was as Weapons Officer and Combat Systems Officer in USS Port Royal (CG 73) from April 1997 to August 2000.  During his tour Port Royal conducted two Western Pacific/Arabian Gulf deployments as Air Defense Commander for both USS Nimitz and USS Stennis Carrier Strike Groups.

After leaving Port Royal, Captain Huete earned a Master of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies from the U.S. Naval War College, graduating in November 2001.

Captain Huete assumed command of USS Black Hawk (MHC 58) in June of 2002.  During his tour Black Hawk participated in two Western Atlantic deployments in support of homeland defense efforts.  Black Hawk earned all warfare area excellence awards each year of his command, as well as the Golden Anchor Award, the Unit Wellness Award, and Surface Ship Safety Award.

Captain Huete joined the Chief of Naval Operations staff in June of 2004, and served until July 2006 as the Ballistic Missile Defense Section Head, Theater Air and Missile Defense Branch, in the Surface Warfare Directorate (OPNAV N86).

Captain Huete assumed command of USS Crommelin (FFG 37) in December of 2006.  During his tour Crommelin deployed to Central and South America and conducted highly successful counter narcotic operations, interdicting over 71 million dollars of cocaine bound for the United States.

Captain Huete joined the staff of Commander, U.S. Pacific Fleet in July 2008, and served until July 2011 as the Integrated Air and Missile Defense Division Head in the Operations Directorate.

From August 2011 to June 2014, he served on the staff of Commander, U.S. Special Operations Command as the Western Hemisphere Branch Chief, Current Operations, in the Operations Directorate.
